Working Together Chapter 5
Aldo's contacts in DC had so far come up with little, there was a possible sighting of Lj in the airport in DC but that was unconfirmed. On the other hand they were doing quite well with evidence gathered against the Company, nothing that could completely bring them down but they were building a solid list of names of people higher up on the payroll.
Aldo met up with his old friend and trusted confidant Cooper Green in a safe house in Chicago. "The problem will be that we have no reliable law enforcement agency to follow this up when we do get solid evidence," Aldo told Cooper, "The Company has infriltrated everywhere." "Not everywhere" Cooper replied mildly. Aldo's head shot up "What are you talking about?" Aldo asked, "There is a agency in DC that can be trusted," "How can you be so sure?" Aldo said trying not to get his hopes up. "They take lie detector tests, I've been there I have seen the questions asked and have asked a few myself" Cooper paused considering, "I also know a number of the agents personally and they are the most brilliant, intelligent people I have ever met and their hearts and morals are in just the right place." Aldo thought for a minute, "Ok, who is this agency?" He asked, "You have probably never heard of them" Cooper replied, "They go by the name of NCIS".
Meanwhile, In a safe house in Colorado, A middle aged blonde woman was in the kitchen, she jumped as she heard a gunshot and raised voices before another shot and then silence. David Apolskis came down the stairs worrying about what was going to happen next, he was very conflicted about his latest oreders from the Company, he didn't like betraying Aldo and he liked and admired the person he had just been told to kill. There wasno doubting the Company was pissed about losing Lj and David was glad he hadn't been involved in that fuck up.
David couldn't seee her downstairs and hoped she hadn't took out the shots as he took out the other agents protecting her but then he caught a interesting smell of food and turned towards the kitchen.
David didn't see her straight away as he walked in so was caught off guard when she jumped from behind him and slashed that was holding the gun with her knife, he cursed, she was so sweet most of the time that he had forgotten how strong and stubborn she was, a trait she shared with her husband and son (sons, he corrected himself as there was another one somewhere that would be just the same). Her blue eyes were fierce as she looked at him, "You told me David, that I was the closest thing to a mother figure you ever had, are you really able to execute me for your own gain?" The gun was lowered "No I can't" David took a deep breath "Get out of here now, I'm giving you one chance only" she realized he was serious and ran out the door grabbing a cell phone as she went.
Cooper and Aldo were just finishing their meal when Aldo's phone rang, "Sorry" Aldo apologised as he answered Cooper waved him away as he continued eating. "What!?, How did that happen?" Cooper looked up Aldo's face was ghostly white, "Any idea where she is? no? ok I will be there as soon as possible" Aldo finished up. "Bad?" Cooper asked. "Very, I'll see you later" and Cooper watched as his old friend literally ran out the door.
Micheal smiled as he stopped by Lj's door. Earlier, Micheal had shown him the security around the house. Because of his job Micheal had wanted the best to protect Sara and his family and so had designed the system himself and then invited teams from NCIS to come and try to break in. Needless to say they had failed miserably. Micheal had watched as Lj had relaxed as he saw all the different systems in place. Now sound asleep Lj finally looked the happy carefree fourteen year old that he should be.
Micheal closed his door and headed down the hall and into his own bedroom. Sara was already in bed looking drowsily at him "Lj ok?" she asked "safe and sound" he confirmed "its probably the first real sleep he has had in ages" Micheal continued as he turned off the light and crawled in beside her. Sara immediately snuggled in closer, she raised her head to look at him and saw he was wide awake, "Your not going to sleep much tonight are you?" he smiled they knew each other to well, "There is a bit going on in my head tonight" he confirmed. Sara gave him a long passionate kiss, "I love you" she said her voice soft "I love you too" he replied. Sara snuggled in and went to sleep. Micheal smiled and relaxed savouring the feeling of her body against his something he never grew tired of, his thoughts soon turned to Lj's story earlier and to his own brother and father? apparently involved in this thing, as Micheal finally went to sleep later that night he promised himself he would do whatever he could to make sure Lj would live a safe and happy life.
