friday had a party here, watched the big lebowski and drank white russians, then after 3 months finally checked out the riptide bar, it was actually quite cool. the bartender even told us his name and welcomed us to the area, very cool! i like that there's a good inexpensive bar only 6 blocks away from us, so we can stumble home whenever we want. and really they do have good prices basic mixed drink $4 and a pint was $3.50. good prices for the city, actually i think that the alcohol prices on this side of town all seem pretty decent.
since this week is fleet week, yesterday we went to the airshow, watched the red bull world series (it was pretty cool even if we only saw 3/4 of the race track) and then there was some filler air show stuff, this one guy who is a stunt pilot. holy shit what he was doing was amazing, sean tucker i think was his name. literally he would fly up, and then nose dive, twirl and pull out with loops. so fr e a k ing awesome. fat albert, a C-130, flew over us, shocked the crap out of us cuz it's a huge plane. then the blue angels showed up and preformed. alright so im not big into the military thing, but after working at an aviation museum this summer, and just learning more about planes, it's like well yeah sure it's the military but damn these are really amazingly skilled pilots in pretty incredible machines. is it really so bad that we are actually seeing them. i read someone complain about how most places in the world they see the f-14s and thats pretty scary, well seeing them at the show, i have a much better understanding of why, and how impressive these are. now i'd just like it a lot better if instead of being stuck in a war, that they could have gone in and come out (this is being said with the the acknowledgement that the way things are is because of who's president, not because i think we needed to go into war overthere). anyways with regards to fleet week, planes are really really really damn cool.
plus there are men in uniforms walking all over the place.
