A day off

Oct 07, 2012 20:58

Today I went to the Detroit Zoo and had what felt like a true day off for the first time in a long time. I don't know why it made such a difference to go someplace versus spending my time in cafes, but it did. This was the second day of the Fall Festival at the zoo, which meant some more children's activities and a hayride passing by at times. What ( Read more... )

I don't know that I have ever been to the Detroit Zoo. Maybe when I was younger. J took The Nephew a few years in a row for her birthday treat (come on, what's a better birthday than taking a 3 year old to a zoo?). I should show you some of the pictures some time - one year she took my cousin's little girl as well and the two of them looked like they were posing for Zoo Promo Posters in every shot.

I'm glad you enjoyed the day off!

Once Upon A Time - It was suppose to suck so I could stop watching it this year and cut down on my TV shows! I enjoyed all of the fairytales last year and often the way the person was in the Real World too. I did feel like they missed a few opportunities (I still haven't gotten over how they should have killed Dr. Hopper at the end of the episode where he was in the mine shaft - it felt like a cop-out ending and like it made his sacrifice mean less) but overall, I liked it at first. But then it became bogged down by all the Mary Margaret/David stuff (neither of whom did I actually care about - although I liked Snow when she was all kickass and thieving, I just didn't care about them and their love story in the Real World). And I kept finding myself frustrated a lot for some reason. I heard someone say once how it felt like a show that could have been awesome but just wasn't.

But I was curious as to what they were going to do with the magic this year, so my plan was to watch one, maybe two episodes this season - just to see what they decided to do with that storyline - and then call it quits for some new shows I wanted to try. Yeah...at the end of the premiere episode of the season, I literally made a noise of gasp/shock/surprise and then got all like, "Omg, omg!" I have never had such a vocal response to OUaT (unless you count noises that come whenever Eion Bailey is on screen). So I decided to watch just one more. And I did. And now I have decided to watch just one more.

It is so good this season! They are finally getting into the meat of it all. I hope it focuses a little more on some of the other characters too but overall, I am enjoying the hell out of this season.

I missed a good chunk of the first season, apparently the worst of the Mary Margaret/David stuff, because I still like him. I love how they actually are following through with everyone and the world building. Last season had great moments and eh ones.

The zoo is great, its a wonderful place to spend time and it was the Fall Festival so full of family.

I am about to go to bed but I was looking for some creepy Halloween icons to upload and I found a great site. While I was scrolling through to see what else she had made (Sucker Punch, whooyay!) I saw that she had a whole batch of icons titled 'library'.

They are utterly brilliant and I had to rec to you so you could snag whatever you like.

I did it! I walked right into the library and I took out a book!. Enjoy those, darling!
