What spurred your decision to go to New Zealand?

A couple of different things and I'm not sure of really a specific order for them. A big one was that I couldn't find a good job, I had an unpaid internship at a Philly museum which was interesting but no money.

Then a good friend was planning on doing a year teaching English in Korea. This got me thinking that traveling clarifies things for me and I realized that if I went I wanted it to be for a year and somewhere English speaking. I didn't want to go to Europe since its expensive and I've traveled there a good bit.

So I started doing my research about New Zealand and Australia, Australia would only give me a four month working visa but New Zealand would give me one for twelve. So my plans set in motion and Lord of the Rings was also a big influence but really it was a lot of things just adding up.

After coming back from New Zealand, I was looking for a job. I was mainly focusing on administrative assistant kind of things because I'd done them before. I almost got hired by a development department and a research professor in Philly but not quite.

Then around the start of last year, I started volunteering at the library specially in the children's section, I'd been planning to but it took a while to happen. While I was there I realized just how much I loved libraries.

I've volunteered and worked at libraries before and I just loved it. So I did a few informational interviews and realized that I needed an MLS to do what I wanted to do. In April I visited Ann Arbor and now I'm here and it just feels right.
