*eats popcorn dejectedly*
I just. What was that? What was that? If Yuuko were still alive, she'd have smacked Watanuki silly for this crap. 100 years! asdkfjsdfsldkfj
And you know what? I blame Doumeki for this, too. HE SHOULD HAVE USED THE GODDAMNED EGG. You'd think at least one of his descendants/reincarnations/whatever would have had some initiative and/or balls, but noooooooo.
Or maybe I can just blame Clamp. Yeah, that works too.
(really, I'm starting to think Holic is a tragedy in the classical sense, where the characters' flaws are the catalysts for their downfalls. Doumeki's flaw - no initiative, see: the grandsons and the egg. Watanuki's flaw - he's an idiot, see: all of Rou. Even Himawari fit the pattern with her bad luck, but at least she managed to get out and get a life.)

And that right there really brings us back full circle here. I just hope at least one of them gets a clue bomb eventually. I mean they are supposed to realize their faults before the end in a true tragedy right? *hopes*

Well, there's always Fei Wong Reed to consider, as far as endings are concerned. I still think he's connected to Watanuki or Doumeki somehow. Maybe things continue on this way generation after generation until one of the Doumeki clones comes out really, really wrong and turns into FWR. Possibly.
Or maybe using the egg to take away Watanuki's memories of Yuuko would have led to the birth of FWR? Like, the memories of Yuuko and the desire to find her would have hatched a FWR-like being (as opposed to something like Tanpopo) and set this whole process in motion once again. But Yuuko wanted Doumeki to use the damn egg. Bah.
Either way (or neither way), I don't think there's a good ending here. Not least because Doumeki Shizuka (the first) is already dead. ;_;

Yup, that pretty much sums up my thoughts too. And the more I think about it, the more sorry I feel for Yuuko. Watanuki and Doumeki have themselves to blame but she really tried to change things, and she wanted Doumeki to use that egg. Sure, Watanuki might be able to leave the shop now, but that doesn't change the fact that all his old friends died while he was waiting.

So, a day has passed, and still, all I could think of is: GEE HOW CONVENIENT ALL THE DOUMEKIS AGREE TO LOOK AFTER THIS RANDOM DRUNK TEENAGER WHO'S IMMUNE TO LUNG CANCER. ATTACHMENT AND ALL, THEY HAVE IT (or more like "our ancestor wasted his life doing this we can't let it go"), IT WAS PASSED DOWN VIA THEIR GREAT-GRANDFATHER... and ow, I typed that down. Now it's real in my head. I'll need both of your shoulders /clings
(Hope you've been doing well! Traveling didn't happen?)
Hello, you. *passes you the popcorn, which you can either eat or throw at certain people*
