Ah, tis lovely indeed to relax and do as I see fit for a couple of days. And, seeing as I hadn't laid my eyes on a horse for a few weeks, I had to visit some after spending a satisfying day doing naught but play on the internet, read, embroider and ponder.
Turned out to be a lovely day (after the nasty early start, made less nasty by the fact it was light and only slightly chilly). Arrived and was quickly hustled onto a horse for a nice ride where we discovered an airfield, hopefully the site of many a good blat in the future! Onto some nice foresty roads where little Zar (who is a most precious and refined being, normally not lowering himself to the demeaning dirty standard of his paddock mates/louts) bravely and very carefull pawed at a muddy puddle, barely making a splash. Keko (one of the more loutish of his paddock mates) upon watching this display for a few minutes, decided he had to jump in and show him how it was done properly, and so leapt with vigour into the puddle and proceeded to paw with gusto, wetting everything in his surroundings. Contrary to expectation, Zar (with a slight look of curious disdain) was boldened by this display and grew more vigourous in his tentative pawings. Bravely done good chap!
Homeward bound and after a wee run round the field enjoyed by all involved Zar decided to show me how very nimble he in fact was, by weaving across the field, changing legs every two strides in a fine display of nobleness. Whilst Re indulged in a happy buck (ah, she was just put out cos the smaller Zar zoomed past leaving her miles behind with only her big belly as consolation) Zar nipped about the field, dodging trees and posts without qualms. Excellent.
And the day wouldn't have been complete without a naked (the horses, not us!) wander to the shops to have a berry smoothie. The horses were stationed behind the convienently placed cafe barrier, whilst we sat at the table, fending off their persistant advances to investigate everything we were eating. Re was convinced that we must have something she would like - and lip curled with vigour in distaste when she won herself a piece. Undeterred, she was sure we had something delicious for her coming. Unfortunately, all she was able to enjoy was the bucket of water which the guy from the pharmacy kindly offered, and when delicious food was unforthcoming, she tipped over in a jealous fit of rage. Zar meanwhile was determined to act the golden boy and show us all how a 'good' horse behaves, and retained impeccable manners throughout, greeting all visiter with good natured disdain. Despite Re's bolshy 'look at me' attitude, they won themselves many admirers and we managed to gulp our food in relative peace!
An surprisingly fluid trip home on the train (I ran on to it jsut as the doors were closing - perfect timing) and again the train was just waiting for me when i had to change. Awesome! But when I was picked up by car from the station, I was attacked by vicous hordes of rampaging spiders (a huntsman ran across the window, making me leap to the drivers lap...... and then did it again :S) and huge flying cockroaches in the kitchen. Still, I was satiated by a plate of yummy pasta, and a day of rest and relaxation today. Phew!
