Fireflies and blue wildflowers
So, there are two fantastic summer similarities between here and that midwestern state we previously occupied: fireflies, and these splendidly periwinkly-blue wildflowers (although the specific flowers I love aren't as common here as there).
The heat? That I could do without. But being able to sit outside our apartment at night and watch the fireflies playing? That's pretty nifty. :-) I would otherwise not recommend visiting here in the summer unless you have a really good tolerance for heat and humidity, but the fireflies... well, they might just be worth it. :-)
