*sigh* it's been two weeks......... no hope of me ever remembering what happened within them....
yesterday was pretty fun. day after thanksgiving. went to decatur cd with eliot and i got the iron & wine "passing afternoon" single as well as clap your hands say yeah, which i've been meaning to get. both quite awesome. then i mostly did my calc practice test until later when i babysat for the weigles. got my exercise "playing" ping-pong with tommy while james made a picture on the computer. and they put alan sherman on the record player (the guy who sang 'camp grenada'). funny songs with people laughing incessantly in the background. and the ping-pong really just consisted of hitting the ball around incessantly with no real goal other than keeping it going as long as possible i suppose. no keeping score or rules on who serves when. the only rule seemed to be if the ball was on your side of the carpet you had to pick it up. bending over to pick it up was really the most tiring, really. i feel like an old woman saying it but i guess the taller you are the more work it is to bend over or to squat down. so that was actually quite fun. then tommy gave james some suggestions for the picture for a while and then we went upstairs. tommy and i played scrabble while james read mr. monday. it was a very close game of scrabble. he was beating me for most of the way. for a long time we only filled up the bottom right half of teh board and it was kind of hard cuz there were small words along the diagonal so it was hard to build out from them. we spent a while being stumped and such and i think tommy made the word "mi" like three times until finally someone branched out up to the top right corer and i traded for a u and made the nice long word "cherub" so that we could build into the top left half. then i finished off my letters with the word 'pied' and i thought i had lost cuz i had like 16 points less than him, but then he was like i have to take the 14 points in my hand and add them to you and subtract them from me so with that i won. then i actually managed to get them to bed on time after dessert and knitted until their parents came home. i love making money hanging out with kids cuz the money is practically just a bonus. if it wern't for giving up my own time, i'd do it for free. then to eliot's grandmother's house with him, halley, trevor, kelin, and cole. and trevor and kelin make me very happy. and people got canoe rides and we listened to radiohead and then went home cuz it was kind of a late-started gathering. and i took a second loratadine (claritin-ish allergy medicine) after only 12 hours cuz i'm allergic to the weigle's house and that kinda made me a little funny cuz you're supposed to take one every 24 hours.
thanksgiving was also pretty fun. eliot came over to watch the parade with me and he drew and i knitted and it was fun. and grandmere came while we were watching part of the wiz. then eliot left for his dinner before ours so we had our dinner and it was good. then i watched the part of the wiz that i hadn't seen (the beginning, since it was playing over and over on tv one) and that's quite a good movie. ironic michael jackson moments ("fame, fortune ~ they're all illusions" and he had a nose painted black). then after eliot was done with his thanksgiving stuff we went to his grandmother's house and watched the italian job and hung out.
wednesday...... went to lunch with eliot at everybody's and had a really good portobello mushroom and extra cheese pizza. then i cleaned my room for hours because i really need to, and the knowledge that there are rats downstairs helped. cuz if they ever come up here i want to know immediately, not that they will anytime soon. eliot and i went to will's house for a bit and chilled with poor sick will and halley and lauren and trevor. then we went to trivia and got second place yay. then we went to emilisha's house and had a fun night. they had rum so i mixed in a few drops with raspberry ginger ale and drank that all night so i got the tiniest bit altered. while drinking something amazingly yummy. while most people went upstairs to smoke me, eliot, trevor, and kelin stayed downstairs and had a fun time just talking and being silly. and then people were downstairs and it was funny cuz there were mostly seniors, two high school graduate boyfriends of seniors, one sophomore, and two freshmen. no juniors, i suppose. maybe we're prejudiced...jk.
school this week...monday and tuesday. good there wasn't much. i got paul to let me print in black on monday before him so that i could do the color press on tuesday which went fairly well. narrowly avoided paper in the rollers. so now i jsut have to cut my papers and they should be pretty. we played team trivia in econ on tuesday and it was cool cuz i was on a team with laura, christina, and katie and we ended up tying with the zeke, chris, cameron, and zack team. we got everythign except some motown producer, one of the two actors to play someone on the sopranos (we got one!), and something else. i was quite proud of katie for getting lots of things. and christina and my teamwork to get the lead singer of big brother and the holding company (janis joplin). i think we were the only ones to get that one. and the random guess for the actor in "mr robinson's neighborhood" on snl since we didn't really have any idea that we got right anyway (eddie murphy) fun times. not sure what happened those nights. hanging out i suppose.
last weekend.......oh yeah i was out of town..... went to florida for my cousin nathan's wedding. he's 21. flights can be annoying when your nose isn't in the best shape. the air definitely feels recycled to a sensitive nose. and they changed the rules on us. now purses count as carry-ons and you can only have two. so we had to cram everything in to two less bags but we somehow got it. cousin tj and dad picked me and mom up at the airport. tj has a yellow bmw m3 i think. loud acceleration. fun car. got my own little room in the suite wiht my parents. kind of a nastyish feeling hotel. not that bad jsut not good. i had tiny ants in my bathroom and some in my bed. nasty little buggers. the next day i had breakfast, talked to cousins, went to cvs and walgreens and such with my cousin lauren. ate einstin bros in my guy cousins' suite and talked to matt about music and such. then went to the wedding. and they go to florida bible church so it was a weird little service. the programs had in the back a little page that reminds me of the little booklets you get from evangelists on the street. and they didn't ask if anyone had any objection. and the guy gave a few weird sermons here and there. started out with a story about a kindergarden class asked to draw waht they want to be when they grow up and a little girl having trouble and it finally boiled down to she didn't know how to draw being married. then there was another where he was like love is a shaking hand sliding a ring onto another shaking hand, (then he went on to say all the things love is using contrived hand images such as "love is a proud hand introducing an embarassed hand," ad infinitum), and finally, love is a shaking hand, pulling a ring from a cold, still hand. lovely image, that. and of course he had to tell them "divorce is NEVER an option." i bet he didn't know at least half the uncles and aunts on the groom's father's side were divorced (some more than once) and sitting in the audience. oh well.
then driving a ways to the reception in ft lauderdale in the maxwell room, which is practically under this overpass. weird, weird place for a building. i can't describe it properly. it was an allright place. the food was pretty good. the dj was annoying as fuck. he was trying to make it into a game show or something. at least he moved things along. but he had a very bad voice and an oily smile. it was fun enough i suppose. got to talk to people. and when the bride threw the bouquet she threw it too far and it went over our head and landed on the floor. then this guy came and picked it up and handed it to the bride. and then kissed one of the bridesmaids as he walked out and then that bridesmaid was the one to catch it. and i learned later that she is to be married to him in april. isn't that cute. and my 16 year old cousin ended up picking up the garter. apparently he hasnt' had a girlfriend yet. ha. funny seeing him slip the garter onto the bridesmaid who caught the bouquet. up under her skirt haha. by the way they were really pretty dresses for bridesmaids. i didn't really dance much. only once on like the second to last song with my cousin tj who i think is my favorite cousin.
then the next day was packing up in the morning to check out and i managed to pack everything even tighter than before. and we went to my uncle ted's (father of the groom) and sat around and talked and watched some football and had hamburgers and hot dogs and then watched the beginning of wayne's world 2 and then i played a bit of flute for grandma and then we went home and i got to see eliot for a little and then went home to sleep. and i've already managed to remember most of the past week but i dont think i can do so for the week before so i guess i'll just never know exactly what happened that week. whatever. and i'm on the last song on clap your hands say yeah and it's a really good cd so you should hear it. so long until next entry.
