Sanctuary 4.06, Homecoming

I loved this episode, even if it jossed some of my headcanon for Will. Robin Dunne did a lovely job directing it!

Will, honey, I'm not sure if talking about big cash withdrawals out in public is a good idea.

Hee, Biggie and Henry talking about what they got Will for his birthday! So cute.

These flying abnormals annoyed me, especially Bruno. I couldn't get invested in their story and I found myself getting impatient that they were spending so much time on this. Magnus getting mad at them and making angry faces was funny the first couple of times and then it got irritating.

Henry playing Angry Birds :D

Magnus's makeup looks a bit... colorful in this episode, and I don't think it quite suits her. I still want to know why she has that row of golf balls on her desk. They look like they have Stargate symbols on them. :P

The scene with Biggie and Sheila was FUNNY. "She still keeps a lock of your fur!"

Will, honey, why are you going up to help random people on the street when you have a pocketful of cash? I know you like to help people, but this is not smart. I need you to do better, darling.

"Can you self-medicate?" "How do you think I got through college?" Oh, Will.

Mary Anne Zimmerman! And she died in 1985, which is very close to what I'd guessed (I usually give Will a 1975 birth year, but his mom dying in '85, when Will was 8, would put him closer to '77-'78.) I love love love how the flashbacks were done. "I can name all the states." Aww. And he has little Harry Potter glasses! This pretty much josses my foster-care headcanon, though I will probably work it in and say his father did some time before the prison scene we saw with older! Will.

Magnus lecturing the Bickersons about the diamonds... I don't know. I just got annoyed and felt Magnus was wasting her time dealing with these two clowns.

I'm not entirely clear what was going on with Will's dad. It seems like he gambled away their money, and I'm guessing by "business" he means "scams". And promised to take him to a baseball game for his birthday and didn't. But it was beautifully done and I loved seeing young! Will's bedroom, with his teddy bear on the bed and his awards on the wall. :)

Meh, more bird people. Husband laughed and laughed at these scenes but they left me impatient to get back to Will.

Hey! Will has a guitar in his room! And they couldn't afford for him to see a shrink anymore. And he had a scholarship to college. (Kid says "hey, Will looks like Harry Potter".) "This is fraud." HEY. WILL WENT TO HARVARD. I knew he was a smart cookie. :D (I'm a little confused because he says he's on scholarship, and then he said "you pay my way and you hate me for it"--I'm guessing he helped with college costs and then guilted Will about not being able to afford it?) The ending shot of that scene, looking through the trophies back to Will in Liberia? BEAUTIFUL.

The Flying Bickersons. :D

ohhh, Will's dad in federal prison. And Will in his little shirt and tie, he looks so young and earnest. "You wouldn't be a big shot profiler if it wasn't for me, you practically grew up in a criminal environment." :/ Sigh. I don't know how I feel about Will offering to tamper with the evidence. He's always so insistent on not lying and being totally honest... maybe that's why. I kind of like that I don't know how I feel about that.

I love the scene where Will opens his eyes and realizes he can see. It's very sweet.

This is where I started caring about Bruno and Sheila's storyline. I just... didn't, earlier. Henry crying and being a sap. :D

"Were you always a brunette?"
"Not always."

Magnus, you look so pretty.

"Cake is on her." Yes, please. :P

aww, the scene with Will's dad at the end. :( I like how it was pretty clear that Will is still pretty uncomfortable with him, but it's obvious he was the one who made contact with his dad and invited him over. But I'm glad he did.

So yeah, as a whole I loved it, though I was not that captivated by the bird-people storyline. I always like the Will-centric eps or anything about him, really, so obviously I wanted more of that.
