What an amazing weekend.
So festivities started Thursday night on my actual bday with having dinner wtih my family at Cafe Amsterdam in Fairfax. It was the first time that we've gone out to dinner as a new family of 7, which was pretty special. Everyone enjoyed their dinner (*myself excluded-I got food poisoning immediately) but it was really great to spend the evening with my parents.
Friday was pretty uneventful at work, until I walked out the door and my coworkers ahd a pumpkin spice muffin from starbucks (one of my favorites) with a candle in it. It was a catalyst for hours and hours to come of great surprises! I went home, got dressed, and met everyone at CalSkate for my bday bash...and who knew that almost 30 people would travel 30 miles just to rollerskate!
this picture is missing quite a few people, but is still the best group shot we have. And the night went swimmingly!!! lots of people who hadn't seen eachother in years, lots of people making new friends, everything was great and the energy level was totally positive! LOTS of surprises, including Sheyne and Glenn bringing cupcakes, the Gallagher girls and Karey spoiling me as per usual, and lots of faces that I didn't think could make it surprising me by coming in the end :D
My birthday continued last night with Korey, Sheyne and Glenn and I hitting up the city to see Edward Scissorhands the stage musical. We all got dressed up, and really couldn't have planned it better as Sheyne and I were wearing matching coats and Korey and Glenn looked sharp in their black coats, and ate at a Brazilian restaurant a little ways down Market from the theater. Food was tasty, and then we went to the show...which was absoultely STUNNING!!! It was infact entirely a dance piece, no dialogue or vocals, but the staging and everything was perfect for communicating the story perfectly without those conventions. I don't even really have words for how much I loved this piece...I left with the same totally moved and inspired feeling in my chest that I had when I saw Movin' Out and Lion King. And it now joins the ranks of Rent and Lion King for shows that have made me cry, this time from sheer beauty. I highly recommend that everyone catches it when it comes to a city near you (*COUGHBRIANCOUGH)(LA IS ALMOST SOLD OUT!!)
Anyway, clearly this has far and away been the best birthday ever! Truly amazing and inspired...
