I can see it now:

Agent 6 wonders how the hell such a large wolf can walk so quickly, running around a corner to catch up only to be cloths lined and lifted from the floor by his collar...

Brick snarles: "Why for are you follow me? e____e"

Agent 6: D: ToT

Or...

Clarence: "We meet again, Ms. Hammer."

Syl slides the shoulder strap of her dress off her shoulder: "Oh help me! Help!"

A wild Brick appears: e__________e

Clarence: o.O;;;

Syl: "He tried to force himself on me!"

Brick: D:<<<<<<<<< *fist* -> *agent face*

Clarence sails out of the casino skylight: x.x

Syl smooths her dress: "Come, Brick. Let me buy you a steak." ^.^

Hee! I figured it made sense. Bach was put on the team because he was a thorn in his government's side, and they couldn't just kill him without causing more problems with his old group of chums. So instead they kick him out of the country, put him under surveillance in a legit Natherican military unit and send him to the front lines!

Only...this is different. These -aren't- the front lines any more. A superweapon could easily fall into the hands of any number of wrong people, and they might consider Paddy one of them. Do a little digging and they find out Syl comes from a mafia family? And that Mikasi is a former smuggler/thief from a backwater planet? It's the icing on the cake.

They probably know the most about Bach, since Eire is an Ultimician interest...If I'm not mistaken? Their intel is probably spotty on everyone else. But I can see them easily getting paranoid enough to consider butting in; or at the very least dropping warnings like this one. "We're watching you. Don't screw this up."

I'd never really put much thought into it before, but y'know you're right. At least 3 of us have been on the wrong side of the law more than once. Maybe more I dunno. I'll have to see if there's any further exposition on the subject.

Implying that Syl wouldn't just skewer him with a sword and a nice rabbit stew later.

If they get in the way of completing the mission she might kill him with one of those plastic olive skewer swords.
