KUUUBBBBOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't care WHAT his reasons were, i just--- argh!!!!
HE STABBED HER.
HE. STABBED. HER!!!
AAAAAHHHHH!!! GIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!! *rages madly*
Quite frankly I'm sure there is more to this than meets the eye, there always is with Kubo, and even more so with Gin. But still!!
Initial reaction; Die. Just go die, Gin. I don't even care.
After a little while; WTF KUBO!!! How could you end their reunion that quickly when ICHIGO NEEDS 15 CHAPTERS TO TAKE DOWN ULQUIORRA!!!!! AAAHHH!!! *rages more*
*sigh*
Anyway... other thoughts;
Gin/Matsumoto-san relationship thoughts;
Okay I don't know WHY I'm sticking up for him after that chapter but... i think he's just wounded her enough, crushed her hope that he'd listen enough so she won't run after him anymore. He doesn't want her to face Aizen and I think he wants her to hate him. Gin doesn't like sad stories and I think he thinks the good guys will win and that eventually he'll probably die. He doesn't want Matsumoto-san to grieve for him, he doesn't want her to miss him and would rather her live her life without clinging to the memory of him.
Seriously, one of these days, Gin is just going to go "hey look, really, I'm just a bad guy. Plain and simple." and wer'e all going to keep sticking up for him. I don't know WHY I keep thinking of reasons and loopholes as to why he's doing whatever he's doing and how it relates back to him being a good guy.... he's done nothing to deserve our kindness.
Gin/Izuru relationship; (copy and pasted from
ginkira At first I thought Gin's line was saying "Do you really think Izuru ever believed in me that much", but upon reading the Japanese raw I got more of a "Rangiku, aren't you just using Izuru to hide the fact that you were hurt by my betrayal?" feeling.
I must admit while the second meaning seems a little more likely, it is also a little more obvious, and Kubo tends to be anything but obvious.
There could be something sinister in Gin's words (especially considering that panel), something like "Izuru never believed in me, he never trusted me to be a good person, which is why I had to break him and make him my puppet". That almost tragic yet addictively sinister relationship between the 3rd Division is what keeps them so interesting I think.
I want the line to be about izuru, but I think that's my more bias opinion getting in the way. And it seems more obvious.
Then again, the line being about Matsumoto-san seems more subtle, and knowing Kubo, it was probably the more obvious option not because it's obvious, but because he likes to mess with us like that!
Like how in SS Gin was so obviously the bad guy you just won't believe it's him but then oh look he really is a bad guy.
GUH.
Izuru, I know you're hurting and injured and I know what I said about Shuuhei when he ran off to fight Tousen... but you need that closure!!! ;A;
I miss my boys.
