The holidays in NYC bring out my inner claustrophobic misanthrope. I get so anxious with SO many people around, moving slowly, I just want to start shoving random strangers. It's the moving slowly that drives me nuts. Honestly, every time I start to walk up or down the stairs, someone much slower than I zips in front of me and then--sloooows. They take up most of the stairs and I'm stuck behind them, frustrated, but it feels rude to walk around them sometimes. Just HOLD ON to the railing and walk faster, this isn't brain surgery! Walking speed really is a part of NYC culture, tourists just don't get it. Aaaaargh! Cannot wait until January 1st.

Oh, and don't get me started on the people who park on the stairs going into the MTA system, so they can text. Screw politesse, I make a point of cutting around them closely and saying impatiently, "Excuse me...." and sometimes muttering "BAD place to stand."
