[Knitting Geekage] I'm in love

May 09, 2007 10:58

Or maybe that should read I'm Obsessed.............

Item 1: These socks are just gorgeous - I've been drooling over them for 2 days now (I think it's the heel that gets me). And I'm thinking that they would be perfect for my sockapalooza pal. Unfortunately, the pattern hasn't been written yet & I'm not quite ready to start designing socks like that (that would be a bit of an understatement there).

Item 2: My latest shipment of Sundara's Petal collection. Beautiful! I have no pictures to show you, so you'll have to take my word for it. It's based on a dahlia & it's this gorgeous rose & gold blend (& my skein is heavy on the rose). I think it would look beautiful knitted up in the pattern above & it's a color that I think my sockapalooza pal would love. However.............. & I can't believe I'm admitting in public that I might actually like a pink sort of color - but I WANT IT. I want to keep it & make socks for myself. I don't know what shoes I would wear with these socks, because my normal boots would cover them. But............... I WANT THEM. *ahem* The 3rd option is not making socks at all, but some sort of cute baby something for the soon to be arriving Katydid (my niece).

Item 3: On Saturday, at Norway Day (where I was dressed in Mexican garb, but that's a different story), I found the spinning/yarn booth (of course). I only visited 3 times, but at least it made it easy for my friends to find me when I went missing (right, yarn). I bought some gorgeous lace-weight yarn in a smoky blue color (again no pictures, but you can visit the website - I bought the blueberry). 2 skeins. And I want to make me a shawl. I don't know what pattern yet - I'm thinking rectangular shape & non-geometric - I want curvy lace. I'm restraining myself from going out & buying Victorian Lace Today, as I have a birthday coming up & well financially I probably shouldn't, but I think there may be a pattern or 2 in there that is along the lines of what I want. I don't really need to start a new project anyway (see previous post of what all is on my needlles), so it will do me good to wait on this (& really I should finish the lace tablecloth in a heavier weight yarn first as it will be good practice, since I haven't done much lace at all). I'll just take the yarn out & pet it every once in awhile.

Right. Obsession is much the better word.
