HUNGER NOT HUNGRY ENOUGH: We had been utilizing the Hunger mechanic to represent our "retired goddesses" reliance upon the faith of her followers to power her supernatural powers. However, the hunger mechanic was falling flat. a half dozen uses of her 2 refresh channeling, rolled against her discipline 4, combined with aspects to invoke meant that she never suffered any side-effects of the hunger. And this isn't the first game I've seen that. The White Court Vampire from a previous game had a similarly easy time dealing with hunger stress.
That is not interesting. Here is my solution:
The Predator Within: After a scene in which you utilize one or more of your supernatural powers tied to your hunger, you must roll an opposed Discipline test between your character and your hunger. The strength of the hunger's attack is the refresh cost of all the abilities tied to the hunger trait used during the scene. For each shift the hunger beats your discipline roll, you take one point of hunger stress. If you cannot take any more stress on your hunger track, then you lose access to a power tied to your hunger. The stress is lowered by the refresh cost of power, just as though you took a consequence of equal value. You cannot use the power until you've fed enough to clear enough stress from your hunger track that was "bought" off by losing access to the power.
