So, 4000 words written today. I'm trying to finish off this very rough broken down jalopy of a first draft. I was hoping to finish today, but I have at least 5000 more words to go to accomplish that.
Judging by how tired I am I don't think that's going to happen. I've already worked close to 100 hours these past two weeks for the day job (work is getting and will stay very busy for the next couple of months) so I could use a recharge before heading back to work in the morning.
Writing the finale is an interesting challenge. I have five POV characters left by this point and the challenge is giving each of them their proper air time. Finding which one to switch to and how to rotate through them all so they have their parts to play will be both fun and, well, challenging.
At first as I approached the finale I thought the draft would come in at 90,000 words, but now it appears it will be at least 95,000 words. One thing I do know is, if and when I come back to this story to rewrite it into a publishable book it will most likely come in around the 150,000 range.
So, here's my back story word count:
90,710 / 95,000
(95.5%)
And all the while, thoughts on reshaping the WIP are ongoing. Now it is time for dinner (home cooked fried chicken that smells delicious from here) and perhaps some reading later. But then again, Big Love and Flight of the Conchords are on later.
