ajsdjksjks! I'm going to the see the Backstreet Boys next month! Call me a 90s tragic that I am so. excited. about. this. I'll be rocking out so hard the people around me won't know what to do. The Boy's parents got us tickets for my birthday which I'm stunned about; my own parents will probably give me a gift voucher or something. (We're just not a huge presents-family, and The Boy's are. Which can make me feel guilty.) But keysmashkeysmahkeysmash because I'm yet to have seen them live.
Also reeeeeeally wanting to see Russell Peters (
he does the best Chinese accent of anyone I've ever seen) but he's charging $100 a ticket and it's making me think we can't stretch our budget to that. I love him, but I get a little peeved at comedians that charge that much. Concerts, that's fine and perfectly normal: they have to travel here with a massive crew, stage props, etc. Comedians? There's only one of them, and they usually have a single backdrop and a chair and they're just talking. That's why I love the Comedy Festival (AND AM SO SAD I CAN'T GO BACK TO MELBOURNE FOR IT THIS YEAR) because all the acts are about $10-$30 and only a few of the big namers are at maximum $60. Sigh.
And sorry to keep posting "Melbourne this, Melbourne that" (I'll get over it, I swear) but OMG, that thunderstorm there yesterday! The city flooded! And I laugh because Melburnians run around like headless chickens and don't know how to handle heavy storms. Queenslanders, who get it much worse, take it in their stride. We likened it to Poms who go out to sunbake because it's 25°C. (I don't know if that's actually true or not, but it's a story here.) But Melbourne just does not flood. It's like snow in Florida.
So funny. But really weird to see. And typically, the rain didn't fall much over the dams so the water levels are still only 35%. WHAT'S THE POINT OF A STORM IF IT DOESN'T HELP THE DROUGHT?
(And I shouldn't really say 'funny' to those negatively affected. *pats
muldy*)
I got my invitation to my five-year school reunion. (LORDY, HOW HAS IT BEEN FIVE YEARS ALREADY?! IDEK.) It's in mid-March, so I can't go because I'm already back in Melbourne in late-February and can't justify making two trips in less than a month. I kind of want to go, though - even if it's just for half an hour, just to see how everyone's changed! :P Coincidentally, it's also on my birthday, haha.
OMG, I just realised one of The Boy's good friends was in Blue Heelers and I never twigged onto it until now! Even though he looks exactly the same! *smacks head* (I know no one will care except
muldy but I had to say it.) My God, I'm such an idiot.
Universal rule: A lot of drivers are just plain stupid. Today we went to a shopping centre and there was a car that had decided to park at the end of the row of cars, but in the aisle. Someone had left a note on their windscreen saying, "THIS IS NOT A PARK, WANKER! LEARN HOW TO DRIVE!" LOLOLOL.
[1] Reply to this meme by yelling STOP TRYING TO MAKE WORDS! HAPPEN. and I will give you five words that remind me of you.
[2] Then post them in your journal and explain what they mean to you.
[3] Keep in mind that if I don't know you that well, your words might end up kind of odd or weird.
tearcreek gave me:
carlton. My beloved footy team although I'm now a member of the Lions so I can go to more games at the Gabba and also the Italian capital of Melbourne. Lygon St is legendary and anyone who visits Melbourne should go there.
brunetti. Also part of Carlton. Iconic bakery/patisserie with so many things I stand there for 30 minutes trying to figure out what I want. Coincidentally, also where I've spent hours with
tearcreek,
muldy and
smirky_turkey.
classy. I... don't know where she got this one from. I have never thought of myself as such (she hasn't seen me slob at home!). Um. I love understated elegance though. That's classy to me. /random
china. I presume this is in because I'm half-Chinese and also lived in Hong Kong during 2000-01. Most awesome experience of my life. It's such an incredible place.
ice cream. My first job at 15 was working in an ice cream shop and I stayed there five and a half years. The ten or so of us girls were so fabulous, even when head office were being a royal bitch. But I recently found out that it closed down a couple of days ago. :(
YAY FOOTY IS BACK TONIGHT. Even if it's just the preseason cup. And I've got six minutes left of my 30 Rock download. Life seems good right now.
