I saw that photo of the koala in the paper and it just melted my heart. Animals get me far worse than people (though I know the human death toll is horrendous) and I just adore how the man is holding its hand. Makes me all teary. I know that this happening to your state must be just awful to deal with. I hope you're coping okay.
There was a picture yesterday in the Herald Sun of a dead kangaroo and it distressed me so much. :( They would NEVER show a dead person and to me yes, that is the same thing. They're both lives.
It's scary because when I went to bed last night, the death toll was 131. Less than 24 hours later, it went up to 181. And I fear that when I wake up tomorrow, the number will go up even more.
They're saying it could take up to a year to identify everyone. Also, there are plenty of places they haven't got to yet, hence why it could be as high as 300.
Can you imagine, waiting a year to find out that your loved one/s are truly dead? Ugh. I think the worst thing would be the police who are coming to houses and cars and finding them.
Yeah, they're shocked by how quickly it happened, but at least they're safe. My cousin Matt, I think I told you about him, the one that's got a really good job, he used to live up in Townsville; the whole town was isolated over night! And after the crocodile attack, no one is game to move.

I read a story about a man who discovered his parents (I think?) in their house. That would be the worst thing imaginable.

(And I'm glad you've heard from all the people further north. What a relief.)
