First Interview is about 3 weeks away. I have 16 scheduled right now, and have turned down another that I wasn't really interested in to begin with... But I am only just now beginning to receive the more competitive schools offers.
Today I received an interview request from UT Southwest, at Parkland Hospital -
a top Ob/Gyn program (#23 in Gyn), home of ACOG headquarters, etc, etc. I also have my interview at UAB (#17 in Gyn), Vandy (#50 in Gyn), and I've been waitlisted at Hopkins (#1 in Gyn).
So I'm torn. I don't feel like I really have a good chance for any of these programs, but an interview means I am acceptable, at least on paper. But I want to stay near home, and I'm not sure if I need to spend the money on travel and lodging expenses for a program that is farther away, like Texas or Maryland (or Rhode Island, not that they've asked...). But to be able to train at a program like this... would be amazing.
But, to be honest, I'm not sure I want the super competitive atmosphere of one of the top programs. And there are many programs which turn out fantastic ob/gyns.
