I watched the recent offering from Ron Howard today. I was unsure of what to expect given that every review compared it to its predecessor, which was reviewed poorly, which I liked. Well, without ruining it for you, it's ritzier than The Da Vinci Code but lacking in what made the latter worth watching, which was its obscenely frequent referencing of obscure religious symbology and iconography, so even if you hated the action sequences, you could obtain solace in knowing that you come away from the film knowing more about abstruse religious matters than when it started. A&D is much more action-orientated but it redeemd its weak beginning and middle with a lovely plot-twist at the end. Stellan Skarsgaard is also an excellent actor.
So, go see it. It's rather good and you'll love it especially if you liked the previous film.
