I have finished work for the year!
I went out to get Christmas tree-shaped crumpets but Aldi were out, so instead I got normal bauble-shaped crumpets and prosecco and truffles, and visited Castle Mound to see the full moon. I counted a good 15 construction cranes round Cambridge, plus a wind farm I don't remember seeing last time I visited.
I treated myself to a Gousto box (one of these recipes + ingredients all delivered in a box things) whilst everyone's away (yay cheap introductory offers) and it's nice to just have all the stuff and not have to decide what to make. I was feeling Christmassy when I ordered so today is turkey burger + relish + coleslaw + chips. (Except I will probably just make shredded veg, because I dislike mayo.) Chips! I hadn't realised before that you can make oven chips them from potatoes, I think I assumed potatoes would be too wet. I suppose it's just a special case of roast potatoes really.[*]
With luck we will get Yuletide stories at midnight tonight; between now and then I intend to cook and then sit in a heap and watch moving pictures.
[*] Actually the jury says they're not quite as good as oven chips and easy to over-cook.
