The best bottle of wine I've ever had was a 1989 Cotes du Rhone that a friend of my boss recovered from a secret hiding spot when he was released from jail after trying to fly into the US with a single-engine plane full of marijuana. His wife had left him and most of his friends deserted him, but when he told Beth he was out she demanded that he come to the restaurant that night. Beth, Chris and I sat in the garden with this guy Peter and got slowly trashed, on freshly-smuggled Canadian pot and that amazing bottle of wine.
