We have been nursing for one year as of last Sunday. I'm so thrilled to have made it this far despite so many bumps in the road. Thank you ewigweibliche for mentoring me during those crucial first months. Thank you to the supportive ladies at the Wednesday breastfeeding meetings. Thank you to all my family and friends for support, and to Robby for understanding how important it was for me to succeed in this. Thank you to the kind strangers I've encountered during this journey.

I still don't like the way formula is aggressively marketed in third world countries or the way it is perceived to be the baseline of nutrition (where breastfeeding is superior and only available to women with super special and rare working mammary glands or privilege or both), but I can't say I've done well in completely avoiding it. He has formula at his grandparents' house because I fail at pumping now, although it is pretty darn minimal in the scheme of things.. so I'm happy for that.

When we have kiddo #2 down the line, I will breastfeed him/her as well barring any major medical issue. I do not regret this decision and for the first time in a while I am proud of myself.

When we first began, my absolute minimum was 6 months and then I'd reevaluate. At six months, I made my goal a year. Well, we've reached a year and I don't see any signs of stopping. Spud is eating solids like a horse but still nurses significantly, so our new goal is 2 years, which is the WHO recommended minimum. Let's see if we can meet this one!
