Entourage RPF -Overview

So-Entourage RPF. I requested it for Yuletide last year and I actually don't think this existed as a fandom until then. The actors are friends off screen and it seems like aspects of their personalities bleed into the characters. In episode commentaries and interviews, they show a clear familiarity and affection for one another. Plus you get lots of touchy feely photos like these.

Adorable interview here E! (and yep the obvious ship here is Adrian/Kevin C. among the main cast--well at least obvious for me *g*.)

There is actually a rich field for RPF as there is a lot of crossover between real life and the show. Not only are the actors good friends off screen, but the shows canon is based on the real life of Mark Wahlberg who produces and has appeared on the show. Mark flew the guys off to Vegas so they could get to know each other before the production began and they clicked, on and off screen.

The show mixes actors playing themselves with actors playing characters in a way that makes it pretty much the equivalent of pro RPF.

Kevin Connolly is part of the a group of friends that roomed together when they were trying to get their big breaks. That group includes Leo DiCaprio, Tobey McGuire and Lukas Haas.(Lukas Haas has been on the show as a character) Kevin Connolly also used to date Nikki Hilton.

Adrian Grenier did a documentary with Paris Hilton. He's in a band called the Honey Brothers, and played in the movie Celebrity as part of Leo DiCaprio's entourage.

Jamie Lynn Siegler is dating Jerry Ferrera in real life and his character Turtle on the show.

Kevin Dillon plays the less famous, and er...less attractive older brother of a big name actor. And in real life he's the older brother of Matt Dillon.

Jeremy Piven's character is based on Ari Emanuel--major hollywood agent and brother to the Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel.

Brooke Shields, James Cameron, James Woods, Ali Larter, Mandy Moore, Jessica Alba and others have all appeared on the show playing versions of themselves, and it goes on. Great article here about some of the connections in the show.

I said once that this will never be six degrees of the CW, but there really are layers and layers of connection and material for an RPF fandom. I only wish more people would play.
