The Family You Make
(Metropolis Universe)
Author's Notes: I started this a/u universe at the end of the 3rd season. I did several in the series before the muse left
Prompt:93/Thanksgiving
The turkey was juicy and golden brown; the rolls homemade and the pie plentiful.
“Everything looks terrific Mom.”
“Thank you sweetheart.” Martha looked at the faces alight with anticipation.
Chloe, who managed to make it home for the first time in years. Pete and Lana-her body softly rounded in pregnancy. Lucas-who spent the day flirting with Lois.
Lena and Conner-miracle children, each in their own way, and Clark and Lex-who still stared at each other with a loving wonder. It might not be the conventional family she’d envisioned so many years ago, but it was hers, and she was thankful.
Outside
Prompt-26/Teammates
The other girls on the squad thought Lana had everything. Looks, clothes, star quarterback boyfriend-some even envied her the lack of parents.
She’d known them her whole life. They’d played together, had sleepovers, laughed , cried, and shared secrets with one another.
She’d know Clark, Chloe and Pete for years too. She’d passed them in the halls, feeling a vague pity for them in their ‘outsideness’.
She doesn’t know when she became an outsider too. All she knows is that somehow she did.
Not one of the girls on her squad understood why she quit, and that’s exactly why she did.
Caged
Prompt-86/Choices
Jason has grown up being told how beautiful and special he is. How he is worthy of any and everything.
He believes that, which is why an hour of his time is worth a thousand dollars. The money matters, it's going to save him from his mother one day.
The truth is though, he likes fucking strangers. He likes the hunger in their eyes when they see him. He likes the control he has. He gets to say how they touch him, and when, and afterwards he gets up and goes home.
The money matters, but the power matters more.
Feels like forever
Prompt-85/missing
By his senior year, he’s everything he dreamed of. He goes out with one girl after another, and he never has a problem hooking them. He’s doing well on the football team, getting high enough grades to keep his parents happy, but not so high that he’s bumping the nerd wall.
He enjoys being popular, and not having to walk in any one’s shadow, but, he misses Smallville a lot.
He misses Clark and Chloe. He misses being a part of something bigger.
It’s not until he and Lex win the first primary that he feels that again.
Mundania
Prompt 20/Colorless
“It’s all so boring and monotonous. Sure I enjoy helping people, and saving the world, but it’s the same thing day after day. Super villains and their evil plans. They’re all easily defeated. There’s no challenge, no imagination, no style, no charm.”
“Not like Lex Luthor.”
Clark flushed. “This isn’t about him.”
“Isn’t it Clark? This ennui didn’t manifest until Luthor’s death.”
Clark stood and headed for the door. “I think our hour is up.”
“Avoiding the subject won’t make it go away.”
“And talking about it won’t bring him back.” He walked out, quietly closing the door behind him.
