Our church is in a very residential neighbourhood. This morning when Joel and I arrived, I could see a cat sitting on a mount with trees and flowers. He looked like he was plotting something. I wasn't sure what, but we all found out later.

Part of the way through the service during the scripture reading (er, chanting? whatever), Joel and I looked down, and there coming up the aisle was that same cat we saw earlier. Nobody was going after him (hey, I'm allergic to cats), and he made his way all the way up to the front of the church. We were doing our best to keep from laughing, because this cat seemed determined to make it to the altar, and then the priest saw it and was doing his best not to laugh (yes, while reading/chanting/whatever). Finally the cat got to the middle front and one of the guys up front with the priest scooped the cat up and carried him back out side.

When the reading was over, everybody finally got to laugh.

I think one of the best parts was that as the cat wandered past the priest, the reading was from Colossians 1:16:

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him.

It was awesome. I don't like cats, but he was a funny mischievous fellow!
