Well, in honor of my updated user info, I figured I should get with the lotrips recs. *is ridiculous for getting into this fandom so late*
One thing I'm astonished at is how excellent the AUs that I've found in this fandom are, especially as I don't usually like them. For example, Dílse by
strawberryelfsp, which is set during the Irish revolution where Bills works for England as a spy and Dom is a minor revolutionary in Dublin. Holy shit is this good stuff, and I normally can't stand historical AUs, Billy has some serious emotional conflict between his job and how he comes to feel about those he's spying on and just, fuck, it's really, really good. Another great AU is To Catch a Thief by
sparkythehamstr and
apple_pi, where Dom is an art thief and Billy's a private investigator and, as the authors say, "havoc ensues". Fantastic fic, this, with unexpected twists and turns and humor and random lotr actors in the other roles, easy banter and lovely, lovely sex. Mmm. Oh, both of these are Billy/Dom, obvs.
Finally, the Billy's Best Series (scroll down the page) by Lemur, an adorable Billy/Orlando self-discovery fic, which I just love. Yay for straight boys going gay because they really care for someone of the same sex. This fic also features a jealous Dom, which is heartbreaking and shmoo at the same time. Lovely imagery and hurt-y ending, very worth it, overall.
Also! I met my first LJ friend in real life the other day (from my other journal)! It went great! :D
