The death of one man is a tragedy, the death of millions is a statistic - Joseph Stallin
I'd like to pause a moment to turn a couple of statistics into tragedies:
Some people get more than their share of heartache.

In April of this year I had the unexpected pleasure of listening to the Air Force Deputy Assistant Secretary for Air Force Procurement, who was the guest speaker of a symposium I was attending, share with us his vision for the future of the U.S. Military. Rest assured that over the years I have heard many charismatic speakers, including Colin Powell, General H. "Stormin" Norman Schwarzkopf, and Secretary of Defense William Perry but none of them left me as excited as
Charles D. Reichers. Even after he hurried off to catch a plane to D.C. many of us looked at each other and went "Wow! Finally someone who's got his head on straight, and gives a damn about the needs of the troops".
Sadly, we will never know the outcome of his plans for good or ill as he has taken his own life amid quiet controversy. It's strange for me to feel that we may have lost a man who could have done good.
