We all have a ton of the stuff: Old 12/5.25/3.5 floppy disks, melted hard drives, obsolete cellphones. What do you do with them? Tossing them in the trash just adds to the problems in landfills, and keeping them (my current solution) makes your housemate(s) accuse you of being a packrat.

Drill a hole through your hard drive, take the little information storage card out of your cellphone, run a strong magnet over your old Quicken backup disks, and make sure all personally identifiable information is removed from any disks or hardware.
