it's the not knowing....
you're 6 years old. you're standing in front of a gumball machine and staring at the biggest, most amazing gumballs you've ever seen. wow! you start salivating. you want one more than anything.. your pockets are empty and no one else is around. you look around the floor and see nothing but dust. scavenging still, you wander about searching the cold tile floor. there, in the distance, you see it.. a shiny quarter. you run to the quarter, pick it up and hold it high into the air with a huge smile on your face. you run back to the machine, pop in the quarter, and turn the knob.. with so much anticipation you open the little metal flap door.. there's nothing there. no gumball.
