Yep and Paul is off at home. I don't like these types of work days. Well, I had an eventful weekend, that literally started off with a bang, well it was more like a crumple. After work on Friday I headed straight to Curves. After being sick earlier in the week I finally felt well enough to workout, so I felt good about having the discipline to go on a Friday evening.
Well, my Curves location is in a small strip center in Vinings. It's also next door to Meehan's a popular Irish pub. On Fridays parking spaces are high in demand. Another thing to note is that the parking lot curves around to join up with the neighboring strip center. The connection point has a small photo hut that's no longer in use. As I scouted out a space I found two spots on the other side of the photo hut. Traffic flows in a specific pattern around the hut. And the hut is surrounded by four yellow concrete posts. Since there are two cars on the other side of the hut, I opt to follow the correct flow of traffic...worried if I just went straight, the other cars wouldn't see me and would just plow into me. Well, I whip my car closely around the hut (normally you would go further out, then turn) to get to the spots. In the process I hear a faint russling noise. I check my side mirror....my car is snug with a column. There was nothing else to do but move forward. And then I heard "CRUMPLE, POP."
So, I have a dent and lots of yellow paint on my back quarter panel of my car. It's not very pretty. The worst of it is the paint. The dent is actually small.
And, I didn't even get the space. I was about to call it quits and drive home, but a space opened up in front of Curves, so I got my workout in.
My weekend does get better. Saturday I relaxed at the apartment while Paul worked. Sunday we toured more homes. This time two-story houses...a big improvement from the ranches. Then we went to marriage coaching and then we started our registry.
I've been wanting to do this for months and we finally started. We got a good start at Bed Bath and Beyond. We plan to go to Macy's later this week. So far we've been able to pick our stuff smoothly. We hit a roadblock with china and everyday plates. I don't think Paul wants china....at all. But, I'm like what will we use when we host Thanksgiving? We can't use the everyday stuff.
And, then we disagree on the everyday plate pattern. I'd like something with a little color. Currently we have white plates. My set does have one big flower, but is otherwise white. I liked this Morracan-inspired set that had a soft scroll-ly pattern, but Paul vetoed it..."too much going on." So, we'll see if Macy's has anything better. I hope they have more selection, so we can reach a compromise.
OH! After dinner we took Piper to the lake. So far she's been three times, and each time she just tiptoes in the water. She drinks it and splashes. Paul and I wanted to see if we could get her to swim (she's got the webbed paws), so we played fetch. Normally she's not that into fetch. But we found a stick she really liked and then threw it in the water. At first we threw it right on shore, then further and further out. We lost a few sticks in the process (too far out for her to get), but as she got more comfortable she started to swim. It was the coolest thing to watch. We were so proud!
