Jeremy's Alive!

Apr 18, 2005 22:56

Aww man, I was supposed to go to ZBT tonight for a rush girl dinner, but I didn't. Jeremy found me in the "Family Meeting Area" after he crossed the finish line of the Marathon. He was talking very slowly, and his words were a bit slurred. He sat down on the curb for a while unable to move. I sat next to him, rubbing his back. We didn't say much as he was in a fog. He ran the Marathon in 3:42. That's an average of a little less than 8.5 minutes a mile. We walked back to Sigma Nu where he collapsed on a couch. I was so proud of him. I was so concerned about him. I sat there and stroked his face for a couple of hours, not wanting to leave knowing what his body had gone through and was still going through. So I called Antone and excused myself from the ZBT dinner. I feel so badly about that. I owe it to those guys to help them have the best rush that they can. But there was no way I was leaving Jeremy. Honestly, I was so happy that he was alive. I wanted to make sure he stayed that way. I read in the Globe this morning about a woman who died during the Marathon from dehydration. That scared me. Not that I didn't have faith in Jeremy's training, but it's 26.2 miles, for the sake of Pete! Yea, this entry is only about Jeremy, but my day was only about him. He's alive! Thank you, Lord!

Love,
Cristina
