rescue at the tide pool...

Yesterday, theattorney, a couple of friends and I went to the
cliffs at Narragansett to swim in a huge tide pool. We got there at high tide which
means that the water level is up to my neck in some spots. We found tons of little
fish, hermit-crabs, rock crabs, and even a horseshoe crab! The horseshoe crab
was in a bit of trouble, it had gotten itself entangled in some fishing line and was dragging
about a foot tail of the line. The poor thing had this fishing line tangled all around it's legs.
I've never dealt with horseshoe crabs so I was unsure how to remedy the situation.
So, we nudged it into shallow water and I lifted it up and out. I turned it over to expose
it's legs and tried to untangle the fishing line but there was too much and it was
really tied in there. We borrowed a pair of scissors from a nearby fisherman and
had to cut out the line with injuring the horseshoe crab. We were successful!
I wish we had brought a camera!
