Weekends

Weekends really do go by too quickly. Just when I finally am able to relax I have to start preparing to go back to work. I don't think I've always felt like this. At least, it didn't used to bother me as much as it does now. In the last six months or so I sometimes feel a near panic as Sunday slips away into evening and I know I have to go back to work.

Maybe it's partly because my time doesn't feel like my own anymore. At any given moment I feel as thought I should be doing something productive. These days, productive means either wedding-related, chores or work-related. And I'm not liking any of them. If I don't do them, though, the guilt creeps in.

I did manage to carve out some quality relaxation time this weekend, though. It came at the expense of my wedding to-do list, but I don't really mind. I've spent time with some friends and have sat outside reading Kim Edwards' The Memory Keeper's Daughter (which I'm really liking).

And now I'm off to spend some time with my friend, Mary. I rarely go out on Sunday nights, but I like being able to see Mary when I get the chance. Her fiance is now running the trivia nights at a local bar so, from time to time, she comes along and we pretend to play (while really just catching up).
