I had another surprising dress-buying experience yesterday. I went to the Square One Mall in Saugus looking for a dress for my nephew's March wedding in Las Vegas. After a few futile attempts at Sears, Filene's Basement and a couple random stores, I headed to Filene's [Note to shoppers: don't even bother looking at the Sears here for dresses unless you're a mother of a bride who's extremely unhappy that her daughter is getting married].
The Filene's at Square One is one of the stores that is not closing but, rather, will become a Macy's next month. Because of this I didn't really expect there to be many huge sales - I really just needed a dress and thought I'd have a chance there. And, boy, did I ever!
I ended up buying a red, just-below-the-knees, cocktail-ish dress that is similar in style to
this (which happens to be the #1 choice for our bridesmaid's dress). The first happy surprise was that it was the same size as the dress I bought at Marshall's on Thursday. The second...(drumroll please)....it was marked down from $86 to $16. Woo hoo!!!
Oh, and for you Choral Society alums out there, you'll find this bit interesting. During *both* dress shopping excursions "All Night Long" was playing as I was in the dressing room.
Question for all of you....is it okay to wear a red dress to an afternoon wedding? Are the rules different when you're in Vegas?
