I have a few things to say today - surprise, surprise.
Due to
sasha_b's post about editing and writing I really think about re-reading and translating my poor novel I wrote years ago. I am not sure yet if I will/should really do it or just go ahead with something new. I have a nice little idea for a legend based King Arthur story in mind, playing around

I do understand what you mean about having to know the ending; I don't write like that most of the time. I usually build off one sentence or one setting and see where it takes me. That is hard sometimes, especially when you're writing a LONG amount. Sometimes I will know the ending - I knew the ending of my book before I finished it - but on things like fanfiction a lot of the time I have no idea where I'm going with it. It just goes. I hope it doesn't suck. *laughs* I do enjoy that.
I think you should write no matter if you finish it or not. Creativity will always be there - those folks that write never lose it or the desire. I think it comes whenever it wants and we all are just slaves to the muse. *snort* I hate not finishing things too, but it happens. Write! You are good at it. I'd love to see more.
ETA: I am trying to sell my book for print eventually. We shall see. ;)

I wrote short stories where I just go ahead and look what happens - just as you said. Which is a fun thing to do and most of the tme the result is pretty good. But I think when you write something long/a novel you should know what the goal of the storytelling is. Depends probably on the story but I would fear to be lost and stuck somewhere in the middle of the story.
And no, your storys do not suck *winks* I really love your writing style! And I hope to continue to write together some time in the future.
As long as the writing "just goes" and the creativity comes "whenever it wants" I would be fine. At the moment it does not feel like this - if you know what I mean? I made the experience that the more you work/write/whatever the more ideas you have. When you stop the ideas stop. So I have to go back somehow - probably just the beginning will be real work.
Ah, good luck with the publishing!
