Procrastinating as usual

I can tell I'm doing a fic challenge - all of a sudden I find myself doing anything but writing! *shakes head* But I told you I'd share a snippet from my April Fools story.... So I will. Standard disclaimers apply: Not beta'd, and a first draft to boot. *takes calming breaths*

At the time, it had seemed innocent enough. After the final showdown with the demons and the definitive closing of the gates to Hell, Dean had spent a long time in the hospital and in rehab, and Sam had gone back to school. They had bought a house in a suburb not far from where Bobby lived, and things were looking up even though Dean was sometimes feeling restless and missed hunting. He was doing all right, all things considered, thought about going back to school to try and increase his chances of getting a job…and then it happened out of the blue, his and Sam’s lives changed…again.

This time, however, no demon or anything else supernatural was involved, just your everyday drunk driver. Compared to the circumstances surrounding his own injury, Dean felt that Sam’s "accident" was just so unnecessary. If that asshole hadn’t alredy already killed his remaining brain cell with all that alcohol, there’s a big chance Sam would still be walking today. But Dean knew that there was no use in dwelling on the past and what ifs. Life was here and now, and while you had to plan a little bit into the future, there was no use in planning ahead too far because you never know what the future holds. Neither he nor Sam had had any thought of the possibility that Sam too would be paralyzed, just like Dean. But he had been.

Well, that's that. I had planned on making pancakes tonight, but realized that I've run out of cooking oil. Boo! Oh, well, I can buy some and eat pancakes later. But now I should pack, because I'm leaving for Mom's tomorrow. I'll be online pretty much all weekend, so I'll see you guys then. :)
