Polyrock is a minimalist rock band that understands the difference between simple music and simplistic music -- their lack of ornamentation is not the product of a lack of imagination or skill. Quite the contrary. Polyrock's music is simple and effective because no motion is ever wasted. The band'd major device is its arragements, where instead of using instrumental texture to back the melody, the textural input actually conveys the melodic ideas, thus avoiding the usual dichotomy between theme and harmony. If that sounds academic, it's no accident; Polyrock's producer is composer Philip Glass, whose influence is particularly felt on the band's self-titled debut.
