Summary: Taemin is depressed of his two break ups. Key tries to cheer him up. Though it may make him happy he won't still get over them but deicded to try and move on. He promises himself to not fall in love. How will it go?
Chapter 1: Cheer up!
Taemin was sitting on the couch in the living room zapping through the channels on the TV. There was nothing to watch. It was around 6 p.m. He sighed and lay down on the couch. IT was so boring. Nothing to do and no one to call, though he wanted to call Minhwan. He knew him since kindergarten. He didn’t know what to do. All he could do was lie there in his misery. He had been through two break ups and they weren’t pleasant. One broke up with him and the other one left him. Was it something wrong with him? Did he do something? Or was it just that his feelings for him changed? There were so many questions running through his head. And he didn’t have the answers to any of them. It was horrible. He wanted to know why they did what they did, if they had a reason. He didn’t feel like thinking about those questions anymore so he turned off the TV and just lay there on the couch. As he lay there, Key came and sat down on the floor looking at Taemin.
“Taemin ah~” he said and Taemin looked at him. “Stop being so sad. I know it maybe hasn’t worked out in those two but don’t be too hasty. There will come someone for you. You know what they say, you have three big loves and the rest are small. You’ll get a chance. You will find someone. Cheer up!” he made Taemin sit up. “I know what we can do. We can call Minho. No wait he was with some friends. Damn! Umm…we can go and see a movie. You can pick. Whatever you like.” Key smiled and Taemin couldn’t help but smile back, Key was so caring and loving. He felt like his big brother, so did Minho. They always played together when they were small.
“Okay.” he said and Key jumped up startling Taemin.
“Yay! Let’s go!” he took Taemin’s hand and before he knew it they were outside their house.
They were walking down the street on their way to the cinema. Key was wearing a pink t-shirt with a print of key. It suited his name. He also wore light blue jeans and white Reebok shoes. He was so stylish no matter what he wore. He was popular in school because of his looks, charms and his skills. Key was good at singing, rapping, dancing and so much more. He Taemin and Minho started a boy band but it wasn’t complete. They were always to busy so they didn’t have a chance to practice or anything until now, but it was a while ago. Maybe they would start again. Anyway, back to Key. All girls were screaming after him, almost. They asked him out but he rejected everyone. He didn’t want to hurt their feelings, though he would spend time with them as friends.
Minho was also quite popular. Both went in the same class and together they were irresistible. Minho’s flaming charisma made every girl fall, at some times literally. He was amazing. He could act like a man at some times and then act like a boy. He didn’t talk that much but he could talk when he was with Key and Taemin. He was every girls dream. A charming guy who had charisma and manliness. Who wouldn’t like that? Anyway back to Taemin.
Taemin was wearing a yellow t-shirt with mushrooms on it and black jeans. He wasn’t that popular in school but had many friends. He loved to dance and could do that for hours if he felt for it. But ever since the break ups, he seemed to have lost his passion for it. Maybe he would get it back. If he did he would dance his heart out.
As they walked Taemin couldn’t stop noticing all couples around them. Memories came back to him. Memories he didn’t want to come back, he wanted to forget them. Those sad and painful memories he had. Well, all of them weren’t painful and sad but in the end they were. He tugged at Key’s shirt.
“Hyung” he said in a low voice that almost sounded like a whisper.
“What is it?” Key looked at Taemin.
“I feel so lonely. Just look at all the couples.”
Key took his arm around Taemin and pulled him closer.
“You are not alone. You have your family and your friends. Your best friends: Minho and me. Don’t forget it. You will never be lonely. I know it’s hard getting over someone. I’ve been there myself.” He smiled.
“You have?” he thought he heard wrong but no he didn’t.
“Yeah I have. I had this wonderful relationship where nothing was wrong but then he just broke up. Said he didn’t feel the same way, saying it wasn’t because of me but because of his heart. It took me so long to get over him. I cried ever night for a week. Barely ate, barely slept. It was horrible. Though you couldn’t notice it in school, I was hiding it all. But then I thought: well life goes on. Better move on, you will find someone just for you. You only live once.”
Taemin couldn’t believe what he just heard. He didn’t know Key had been in his shoes before. No wonder he understood him so well. He had also been broken hearted, maybe not two times but he had been. By the look of Key’s face he could tell that it was a long time ago and that he had moved on. He wanted to be just like him. Maybe he could. From now on he would not think about his past, only the present. He couldn’t help but wonder if Minho had experienced the same.
“I-I didn’t know” was the only thing he could say.
“That’s because I never told you. But now you know. Just wait. Please be the happy Taemin again. I miss him so much. I know it hurts but it will pass. Will you do it? For me?”
Taemin nodded and Key hugged him. He was so warm. Key smelled really good, it must’ve been the cologne. It smelled fresh and like…he knew what it was but couldn’t find the right word for it.
“Thank you!”
A few minutes later they arrived at the cinema.
“So what do you want to watch?” Key asked.
“Hmm…” he looked at the different titles. “How about this one” he pointed at a movie.
“It seems good. Why don’t you go and buy snacks while I buy the tickets?” he gave Taemin money and Taemin ran off.
When he bought the snacks he met Key and they went to the saloon where the movies was going to be shown. They sat down and the movie started. Taemin really enjoyed it. He didn’t care so much about the movie, just that he was with Key, one of his best friends. Or what he would call “brother”. When the movie ended they stopped and bought ice cream and went home. The stars were shining very bright in the sky and Taemin couldn’t stop looking at the sky but he had to look forward sometimes so he wouldn’t walk into something or someone. When the came home Taemin went up to his room and changed into his pajamas. He was so tired though he didn’t know why. He would usually be up but this time we didn’t have the strength. He lay down and closed his eyes. Without knowing it he fell asleep.
You’re always lonely, always have been. No one will ever love you for real. Can’t you understand that? Look at you! You’re just a baby!
“I’m not a baby!” Taemin shouted as he stood still surrounded by darkness. “I’m not alone!”
Yes you are! Why can’t you realize it? Are you blind? Think about it. Sure you have Key and Minho but that’s jut for now. Sooner they’ll get older and then they’ll leave you. They have their own lives to live. They won’t be there for you all the time.
“You’re…right…” tears fell down onto the ground. “But they will meet me now and then. They will keep in touch with me”
But they will be too busy to meet you that often as you maybe want them to.
“No…NO! They will be with me!”
You’re alone!
“NOOOO!”
“Taemin! Taemin!” Key was trying to make Taemin wake up.
“I’m not alone!” Taemin flew up into Key’s arms. He was sweaty, and his breath was heavy.
“It was just a dream. You had a nightmare” Key said as he held Taemin.
“It was horrible. A voice was telling me I was alone. And that you and Minho would leave me and never meet me”
“Well that’s not true” Key smiled. “We’ll always be with you no matter how far away we are”
“You sure? You have your own lives to live and I don’t want to be in your way”
“You’re not in our way, never! We’re like brothers. Nothing can change what we have. Our bond is super strong and it will never break. Even if Minho would get married he would always be with us and meet us as often as he could. Not that he’s going to get married at the moment, maybe in a few years. Haha” Key laughed.
“Okay…”
“Don’t worry. Go back to sleep. I can stay until you’ve fallen asleep if you want me to”
“I would like that” Taemin smiled.
