Sogyal Rinpoche and senior Rigpa students are currently conducting a 9-day retreat in Winterberg, Germany, for 500 students. One of the study themes is the heart-advice from Rinpoche's teacher, Nyoshul Khen Rinpoche, expressed in the form of songs, poems and letters.

Here are two extracts from 'Sacred Heart-Essence of the Pith-Instructions-Advice in the Form of a Song to My Wife Damchö':

"In this world each minute of time,
Day & night, each instant is fleeting.
Some are being born, some are dying;
Some are happy, & some are miserable;
Some are crying, some laugh, & so on...
Seeing all things are as impermanent as a flash of lightning,
It’s so sad to stay lax & unconcerned,
Assuming that you have obtained the power of adamantine life [...],
So don’t remain indifferent, my heart-friends!"

"If we lack mindfulness, we will be destroyed
By thieving demons;
All the countless positive actions in this & future lives
Are accomplished through mindfulness,
So always remember alert presence of mind, my heart-friends!"
