I think i'll leave this to Head Coach Brian Kelly " That team in the other room just beat us" that was the mood of the press conference held after CMU's 31-28 loss to the Northern Illinois Huskies. Other than the loss on the field the experience today was unforgettable. With my credentials I got anywhere I wanted to go today. It all started with the atmosphere before the game, I felt like I belonged in the staduim at press level with all the other Broadcasters and Journalists. The atmosphere was awesome, the best thing was that I got all the food and drinks for FREE!! It was the opportunity to talk with other journalists, broadcasters and photographers and actually do things that I am going to do when I get out of college. It was an adrenaline rush to be on the field and beside my Chippewas and cover the game as if I was there on assignemt to cover the team. Andrew, Chad and I taped the entire game for News Central 34, running side to side and end zone to end zone it was just awesome. Also, being along side the players, I got to see and hear some stuff that I will never forget. When I wasn't taping I was taking pictures and I got some great shots. Some I may to try to get published or put in a magazine. I will post the pictures after when i get back to my room. One thing I think I will never forget, was the opportunity to attend a real press conference, and see how things happen in the real world of Journalism. I really didn't want to say anything because I was kind of intimidated and I didnt want to piss off Brian Kelly, and I also learned one thing, you have to just ask your questions when you have the chance to and fight for your shots and your angles. For the first time in my life I feel like Broacasting and Journalism are where I belong, when I was in that press conference I felt like I belonged and felt like people respected me. Also I learned some things that I didnt know or even care about when I played football in High School, " Penalties will loose a game for you, there were 22 penalties, 11 on each team, they will loose you a game" Kelly said. " We had the ball for 34 minutes and 33 seconds, we had the ball plenty of time, and had plenty of opportunities to win" said Kelly. To even be in a room with a college coach and athletes that may make it to the big-time is an adrenaline rush. To go back to the sideline, a couple of times we were right on top of the play, and I almost got hit in one of the plays where I was on the sideline I got a great shot of Justin Harper and almost got tackled of I didnt move. All in all it was a great experience, the press room and the free food, the sideline and all the activities that happen there and things you wouldn't see or hear from the student section, and the things that I learned are priceless, and most of all I will never forget this experience. I will be back later with my best shots from the day. Final thought: We beat them on the stat sheet,(first downs, total yards, rushing yards, third down conversions, posession time,) but we didnt beat them where it counted.......on the scoreboard, were still in a MAC championship hunt but we need certian things to happen.
