Wow, it's been a long time. I guess I'll update for the heck of it.
I got out of the army, but I'm going back in because working sucks when you are a civilian.
I was in law school for one day.
I wrote a book. It is terrible.
I have a dog and a cat now. The dog is a crazy lab, the cat is an orange tabby cat.
I've had the same girlfriend for like, 5 years. She's in the army now.
I've made a good bit of money writing papers for college kids. It can actually be pretty lucrative.
I've been looking for a good place to spout my various musings about subjects arcane and varied.
My top video games since I stopped posting have been World of Warcraft, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Red Dead Redemption, and Demon's Souls.
WoW has changed a lot, and there is hardly any world pvp any more. I don't know why you'd even play if not to grief people, so I don't anymore. I did spend some time as a healer on my priest, then a top DPS on orc and dwarf hunters in Burning Crusade. For me, this was the best time in the game. It was fun, and difficult, and people were around in the game world to fight in pvp. Many people started doing arenas and stuff though, so it was really the beginning of the end for me. In Wrath of the Lich King, I abandoned my poor hunter after I got wrecked in a 1 on 1 match with a holy paladin, which is a healing spec. I didn't let him kill me, though he had full health and mana and I was out of mana and almost dead. I jumped off this cliff and parachuted down, then quit and started playing my paladin. I spent my time tanking in lich king. I was the main tank of one of the top guilds, and it was a lot of fun, though it was time consuming.
(As a side note, I gained like, 30 lbs during that time. I was in college, food was cheap and delicious, and who has time to work out when there are large monsters in an online game that desperately want to hit me while all my friends hit them?)
The next xpac came out, which was fun. I played for a few months, on and off. I didn't raid or do anything other than pvp. Hunter was somewhat viable again, and I wrecked a few more faces. I've given it up now, more or less. It's not fun anymore, the whole focus of the game has changed.
As for the other games, RDR was awesome. I really liked the protagonist. Batman is a game that I consider to be a thing of beauty. It threw enough bones at fans to be super interesting, while also being a super fun game. I was like, 30th on XBox live in the leaderboard for the brawling minigame, so if you want an autograph, just let me know.
The other game, Demon's Souls is the kind of game that makes you want your mommy. This is a very accurate video review of the game:
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/1321-Demons-SoulsThe spiritual successor (sequel) comes out tuesday, so I'm excited about that.
Anyway, I've become something of a fitness nut lately. I started watching what I eat and I work out almost every. I take my dog for runs a few days a week, and run at the gym almost every other day. I'm working on my weight so that I can get back in to the military. I need to be 179 lbs, and I'm around 185 now, so it may be a few more weeks.
I guess there isn't much left to say. It's nice to be back on here.
