Three beach days in a row with dogs in tow. Nothing like fresh air to revitalize the soul.
My brother & I ended up going to Santa Cruz with Lula yesterday. Got a lot of great jyotish lessons listening to our respective i-pods & discussing and teaching each other what we learned. When we got to Craig's shop, Lula immediately soiled the floor, something she never does. Waiting for the king of bikes to appear took a long time so my bro, Lu & I hit the deserted pristine beach. He donned his wetsuit & swam in the cold water. I walked a long way through the surf.
Eventually Craig & his german bike fiends came down and started talking bikes. They didn't get much of a response from either us. Eventually my brother gave them a long amusing vivid description of the esoteric side of India. Craig tried to engage me on the bike tournament tpoic again and I mentioned that I thought it was likely that I had died in a sporting accident in a former life.
Eventually we went out to a fancy organic restaurant, had mutiple courses of delicious food and lucious wine, whic in the end, he very generously paid for. I was seated across from his very pregnant asian wife (#3). She is sweet as pie, and had absolutely no idea how I knew Craig or that we'd had a relationship, " which is so typical of Craig. I was the gracious guest, and edited the extent of my relationship with Craig, saying offhandedly, "Oh we went out- just a little- we also dated other people." We were supposedly "monogamous" for 7 years but he constantly sport-fucked woman and lied to me about it. But we've been friends after 25 years. It's odd how now he's got the perfect wife who will never say anything mean to him, will have his babies, and contentedly cook and clean the place spotless. She asked me if Craig has changed at all and I said, "No, not really." Emotionally, maybe not, but it was weird to see him living in a brand new condo decorated with stuffed animals and styrofoam and pink ribbon hearts, a shrine to their marriage; after I'd lived with him in a series of cheap warehouses in bad neighborhoods with no running water. Shows you what kind of girl I am. Cheap, or contented with little.
Owen and I took the Chaos and Wrex to another pristine beach today. It was cold, completely fogged in, perfect hiking weather. We hiked up to the vista point then down to the beach where we ran barefoot through the sand, bird watched and the dogs had to be dragged away from a dead baby deer which washed ashore.
