Cheesy 70s funk & soul music holds a very special place in my heart - so getting home from an awesome beach party on the hood canal to find that Isaac Hayes is dead makes me sad in ways that are difficult to articulate. Yes, the man took up Scientology in his later years. No, most of his discography isn't particularly good. But for all his flaws, I don't think anyone else - EVER - could've had a #1 hit song exhorting listeners to suck on his testicles. We'll miss you, Mr. Hayes.
