So, about our vacation.
It was a lovely time. In the beginning the weather wasn't so great and I was afraid it would be just as wet a holiday as last year. But fortunately the weather chanced and it became sunny and very hot even at some days.
We didn't have the same little house we had last year because that one was sold. It was the same type of house though but on a different spot.
We did have a lot of space behind the house and at the end of that there was a pond with fish and ducks. The ducks even came into the house to see if we had any food for them. ^_^ so cute.
Where we were is very close by the "Veluwe". That is a very lovely scenic area with lots of walking trails in the forest and on the heather fields. Of course we went there a couple of times for walks.
On friday the 26st it was Susannes birthday but we weren't home, so Susanne and Silvia came to us by train and we had a lovely day together. She turned 24, we gave her a computer game she wanted for the WII. We sat down at a cafe for coffee and tea first, then we went into town for a bit and after that we went to the visitors center of an other scenic area called the "Oostvaarders plassen" It is a nice visitors center and they had coffee,mmm.
Then we walked a route of about 5 k.m. It was very sunny that day so very warm, but lovely still. After the walk we drove over a dyke (a long one) with water on one side and the "Oostvaarders plassen" on the other side, a lovely drive. And in the place on the other side of the dyke we sat down on a terrace and had french fries. And then it was time for Silvia and Susanne to go home again and we drove them to the station. We said good bye and went back to the house. In the mean time it had started to rain and when we were on the high way it rained so hard we had to stop at the side of the road because we couldn't see for more then maybe three meters in front of us, scary. We were not the only ones who did that, it looked like a parking lot on the shoulder. There was also thunder and lightning and a hail storm. We waited for about ten minutes and then it was okay to drive on.
On wednesday the 30st we went to a zoo in Arnhem, a really beautiful one. Again a beautifull day with a lot of sunshine.
They have these different sections in the zoo, and in each section another "part" of the world. There is the ocean with biiig aquaria ( eight million liters of water) with even sharks in there. And there is the bush, where it is very warm and humid with beautiful plants and birds, and there is the safari with wilde beasts and giraffes and zebra's, and the desert which is covered, and they have lions and tigers and chimpanzees and gorilla's and urang utans and elephants and lots more. Once again a lovely day.
And on friday the second of august we went home again. I brought books along and I only read one, I brought a bag full of stuff for arts and crafts and I did that only once. ^_^
I did read some comic books and the news papers, and I played cards with Miranda, who is really good at it. I couldn't win from her.
On saturday the second Susanne and I went to a really cool festival called Castle fest, but I will tell about that later.
