may vacation

I am enjoying my may vacation right now, having a lot of fun.
Yesterday was Queens day here in the Netherlands. So lots of fun and parties around the country, with free markets everywhere with people selling stuff and making music.
The weather forecast wasn't all that good, but we had a great day. A bit chillie but dry, only a spatter every now and then.
Frank and I went to the free market here in Beverwijk, then coffee at home and after that we went to Heemskerk to visit the market there. We always like the market in Heemskerk better, in Beverwijk it's only one street up and down, and in Heemskerk it's all over the center, with more people and more music.
I didn't buy much, just some books, but Frank had a really good day. He bought a box with 13 beatles records in it in perfect condition, and about six or so records of Neil Young. That totally made his day.

On monday my friends Sandra, Trude, Janine and I went to the "Country estate fair" at Beeckestein estate in Velsen. It's the same event we had so much fun at last year.
This time we didn't buy anything so large it would hardly fit in the car. But with the four of us we did buy lots of goodies. So it was a real puzzle to fit everything in, plus ourselves. But we managed. I bought a warm fleece shawl (a big one) a bag of raspberrie goodies, (like jam and candy and liqueur and juice), a small dish with little spikes on it to shred garlic, and a lovely round rack with ten little bottles to put flowers in. O, and a bag of scones mix. Again it was lovely.

On saturday Janine had the opening of her little business. The weather was perfect so we could sit outside on her brand new veranda. (She designed it, her husband made it) We had a lovely afternoon despite the fact that only a few people came. She didn't worry about that, she has the website and maybe there will be an add in the newspaper.

Today we stayed home, very relaxing. Frank played the Beatles records and I was painting a little acryllic painting on the front of my recently started art journal.

day out, may vacation, queens day, fair, friends
