Just Call Me Xanderina

Irish and I are officially living in my sister's basement. Actually, it's not bad at all - there are a bed and a couple of chairs, not to mention our cats, and when the weather's hot or humid, it's nicer sleeping down there than in my niece's room upstairs ( Read more... )

I'm trying to remember -- don't you live in the Breman area now? *is too lazy to check your profile* Mark me down for one of your local fannish friends, I'm only about an hour's drive away -- although that's a pretty good distance, with the gas prices being what they are.

Good luck with the job hunt -- it's tough times out there.

I do live in Bremen. Are you planning on seeing the new Pirates movie? Maybe we could get some people together and meet halfway (I think at least one of my sisters wants to see it). If there is a theater halfway! *g* In any case, I'm now counting you as one of my local fannish friends.

Usually I do the family thing with my daughters when I go to the movies but, sadly, it might be awhile before I go out and do anything involving cost for awhile -- I got my sewer repair bill in the mail Wednesday. Between having no money and spending my little bit of spare time writing, I don't get out much. :-(

Still, I think it's something to keep in mind for the future. Unfortunately, I can't think of a theater halfway! There's not one in Ligonier -- do they have one in Syracuse? And when does the new Pirates movie premier, anyway? Maybe I can save up a few bucks.

Today! It opened today! (I think there might've been sneak previews last night. By "today" I mean Friday, even though I'm writing this early Saturday a.m. - sorry to be confusing.) There's too much going on this weekend with my nephew's graduation for me to go but I think I can catch a matinee on Monday, probably in South Bend. I expect it to hang around for quite awhile and expect to go more than once, so seeing it again in the future is also doable - perhaps later in the summer....

I definitely understand about not being able to afford an outing right now. I have to be pretty frugal till I get a job and haven't been to the movies since before we moved here. (Shocking, really. I love going to the movies and usually go at least a couple of times a month, if not more often.) But I've been looking forward to this one too long (10 months!) not to splurge a little bit ( ... )

Yep, I found out just a few hours after posting that this was the big weekend -- so much for saving up money for it! :-)

I haven't been to the movies in close to a year. Partially it's money, but partially it's that my kids are getting more busy and can't go with me anymore. I miss the Auburn-Garrett drive-in, and I also miss that nice stadium seating and surround sound in Fort Wayne! Of course, time is also an issue.

Syracuse isn't a bad drive for me, although I rarely get over that way. Still, from a financial standpoint maybe the thing to do one of these days is have everyone gather in a home and have a DVD marathon. *looks around* Yeah, I could have this place cleaned up by the end of 2008 ...
