That September Meme - 19-30

19. What was the first song you ever memorized?
Probably Jesus Loves Me. I can still remember being 3 years old and my older cousins asking me to sing Jesus Loves Me for them - back then I was a cutie and would sing at the drop of a hat. (I still do but only at home or in the car.)

20. What’s your favourite kind of bread?
I don't eat a lot of bread these days and I miss it. My favorite is homemade butterhorn rolls. My gramma always made them for Thanksgiving and my mom and probably all my aunts have made them at one point or another. My sister makes them sometimes. (I have never, ever made a yeast dough.) When I was 12, my mom made cinnamon rolls once using the butterhorn dough. Oh. My. Gosh.

21. What’s a big pet peeve you have?
One I don't mention ever because it's petty and none of my business - but it bugs me so much when Christians who don't speak Hebrew throw random Hebrew words into their prayers (like using "Adonai" instead of "God" and "shalom" instead of "peace"). Why? Why do you do that? You don't speak Hebrew! And it doesn't make you look more holy or more educated, it's an affectation and it sounds like one. Grrr.

22. Do you have an inanimate object that you have given a name?
Only old dolls, I think. I still have my baby doll from when I was around 3. Her name is Boo Boo. This is Boo Boo:

23. What’s your favourite Elton John song, and why?
Again, so bad at picking favorites! I love Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me - beautiful piano, easy to sing along with, and you can belt out the chorus in the car. Song for Guy - lovely instrumental piece. Empty Garden - it's not a happy song but it was big during the happiest summer of my life and hearing it makes me remember that summer (which, ironically, can sometimes make me very sad). It's also easy to sing along with. I like just about everything on his Love Songs CD, especially The One, a gorgeous love song and (again!) easy to sing along with. "Sing along with" is a big thing for me. :-)

24. If you could choose any animal as a pet (all problems aside), which one would you have and why?
I'd keep my cats and continue having cats as pets but I'd also have dogs. I love dogs and we always had a dog when I was a kid. They're very difficult pets to have if you're single and live alone, though, so I didn't have any as an adult. Now that Irish is home all day, we could get one but I'm not sure how the cats would react to a puppy, plus we don't have a yard we could let it run around in. But all problems aside, I'd have cats and dogs

25. What’s something “everyone” knows how to do that you’ve never actually done?
Change a tire. I've been taught how to do it - haven't we all? - but I've never had to change one myself.

26. What’s one small thing you’ve accomplished today that wasn’t even on your to-do list?
Nothing - it's Saturday and my to-do list was only a suggestion. I napped a long time, which I generally don't like to do (only because it makes it difficult to go to sleep later) and read a lot, now I'm online. I did finally put the old vacuum cleaner in the car to take to the Goodwill drop, but I'm not sure that counts since it wasn't on my specific to-do list for today - but it's been on my general list for a couple weeks.

27. If you could eliminate one thing from your daily schedule, what would it be?
Work. I don't hate my job but I'd rather be free of the rat-race. Gah.

28. Is there a book or TV series that you enjoy, but acknowledge that it's not actually very good? What makes you love it enough to keep reading/watching?
I don't know. Is Xena Warrior Princess good or not? I know it's campy but I don't think that necessarily makes it bad. What's not to love about it? Xena - the woman - is magnificent. I don't get girl crushes very often but she tops the list. (Which includes Dana Scully.)

29. If you were your own best friend, what piece of unsolicited advice would you give
yourself?
I hope I wouldn't! Unsolicited advice is usually the worst and often seems to be offered in the hopes of advancing the advisor's agenda.

30. What television sitcom is your real life most like?
None that I've ever watched. I've noticed that sitcoms don't generally have a realistic relationship to real life, though they can be fun to watch.
