(no subject)
This is just a general life type update, that I don't want to post on my other blog.
The dog saga continues for us. We had to delay Ethan's arrival because the bloodwork didn't arrive in time. Now, Ethan's having to fly down to L.A. next week to ship him. Honestly, I wish I had never attempted this. I didn't realize what a pain in the ass it would be. I thought, oh people do it all the time, it must not be that big a deal. Yeah, crazy, I-dress-my-dog-in-suits-and-let-him-eat-at-the-table people. Well, not really, probably just poor suckers like me who really like their dog and don't realize how much trouble it is to get them to Australia. Part of the problem is that we live in Alaska, which is just a pain to get things in and out of anyway.
I'm homesick for the U.S. and for Alaska. I don't think we'll be moving back to AK, though. See above about pain in the ass to get to and from, and also, it looks like the Republican candidate will drop out of the senate race, so now we just have a crazy Tea Party candidate. I can't live in a Tea Party state.
Mom is annoying me on Facebook and the blog. I feel stalked. It makes me not want to use Facebook or the blog. I don't know whether to talk to Dad about it, but someone needs to tell her to back the fuck off. I know she's just trying to show interest, but the constant messages and questions are getting to me. "Did you get the DVDs? When did they arrive? Did you have to go to the post office to get them? Did you have to pay extra customs? Were they in good shape?" That's ONE message. Every message has like 30 questions or a request for more information.
Re: the beer guy. I talked to a coworker, who originally told me he had heard of the company (before the rude e-mail). When I told him what happened, he said that he had a bad experience buying some thing there, but didn't want to say anything bad because it might have been a one time thing. Well, I appreciate that you're trying to be a nice person, but that information would have been useful! Anyway, he gave me a recommendation for another company that "would not insult my mother", to use his words. :D
Today I got a water bill from the landlord. I'm irritated, because I thought we were only supposed to pay for water if we used over a certain amount. This looks like we have to pay for all our usage. And SOMEone likes to take baths everyday. It's only $20 for the first 3 months, but still. I'm dreading the bill once Mr. Bath arrives. Plus, Yay! Another unpleasant surprise!
At least my stuff is here. I need to get it all set up, but it's here. And football (Fantasy and otherwise) is starting soon. Although I can't watch the games, I'll be able to follow it online. Maybe I can find some place to watch the Michigan game. That would be fun.
