I gotta gripe and get this off my chest. Warped Tour, the annual touring "punk" festival, has over 60 different corporate sponsors.

You know, punk, the ANTI of almost everything. Is sponsered by all of the following:

Cingular Wireless, Volcom Entertainment, Major League Baseball, Energizer Batteries, Monster Energy Drinks, Virgin Records, Sony ( Read more... )

I am still waiting for the proof where they claim they are a "punk" festival.

I'd just go because of the bands, i couldn't give two shits about the sponsors.

they? If the warped tour was a person and not a corporate cluster fuck I would ask them.

the point is you're paying between $30 and $40 bucks on a ticket to go see a whole slew of bands that sound exactly alike. Furthermore, you're paying out the ass for food and water while johnny jackass tries to to sell you a volcom t-shirt or a cell phone or some gold bond medicated foot powder (I don't get that either, just read that sponsor list). It just gets worse and worse every year, and strays further from the punk rock ideals the festival was founded on.

Anyone over the age 15 or 16 that actually buys into this shit is a fucking moron. I can see from your user info that you're 21 and live in utah. This explains a lot.

Wow. Yeah sure does explain a lot, I'm not in Michigan and I am Twenty one.

I thought this "anti punk" or "punk is dead" bullshit is over, I like what I like I don't think I would let some festival that has sponsors, that started off as an sponsored event hence the "VANS warped tour", but truly they do not advertise it as that. I plan on not going just because I don't care to get crowded by people and there's only one band I would go see.

Also I was just fucking around with Andy- no need to jump to conclusions.

The festival is less about punk now and more about emo bands. It looks like the entire Tooth & Nail roster is playing this year.
